How to troubleshoot problems after changing your online ID
- Changing your online ID can cause issues such as losing game progress, features, or content. If you experience issues after changing your online ID, contact PlayStation Technical Services as soon as possible using the link at the bottom of this page to get help changing it back to your original online ID.
- Reverting back to your original ID is free and should resolve most issues.

If you find that your online ID has been changed to temp-xxxxxxxx, it means that we have received a verified complaint from another player indicating that your online ID violates our Terms of Use. Please see our Code of Conduct for more information.

You don't want to change your online ID
If your online ID has been changed and you think someone else has done so, please follow the steps below to secure your account:
- Change your password.
- Change your login ID (email address).
- If you have not enabled 2SV, we recommend that you set it up to improve the security of your account.
Once you have secured your account, please contact PlayStation Technical Services at the link at the bottom of this page to change back to your original online ID.
If you can't access your account, contact PlayStation Support at the link at the bottom of this page to secure your account and return it to your original Online ID.
Your online ID won't update
Some services and applications may take up to a week to update to use your new Online ID. If you don't see your new Online ID after a week, contact PlayStation Support at the link at the bottom of this page.
